Approach & Education

DR. MI-YUNG L. RHEE, DACM, Dipl. O.M. (NCCAOM)®, L.Ac.
My approach is to look at modern health issues through a traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) lens.

I completed 3,435 hours of coursework and clinical training to earn my Master of Science in Traditional Chinese Medicine (MSTCM) and my Doctorate in Acupuncture and Chinese Medicine (DACM) from the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine (now known as ACTCM at the California Institute of Integral Studies) in San Francisco, California. My clinical training included internships at the ACTCM Community Clinic in San Francisco, the California Pacific Medical Center: Davies Campus - California Pacific Regional Rehabilitation Center in San Francisco, and the LifeLong Medical Care Ashby Health Center in Berkeley.

I was licensed by the California Acupuncture Board in 2017, which indicates that I qualified, after rigorous testing, to practice acupuncture and Chinese medicine in the State of California. In 2020, I received my Diplomate in Oriental Medicine from NCCAOM, which indicates I am certified nationally. That same year, I also completed my certificate in Integrative Health and Lifestyle from the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine.

I am a member of the California State Oriental Medicine Association, the American Society of Acupuncturists, and Acupuncturists Without Borders. I attend continuing education programs annually to enhance my skills and knowledge. In addition, I stay informed about medical issues and advancements from both Western and Eastern perspectives with subscriptions to journals and online newsletters like Acupuncture Today, the Journal of Acupuncture & Integrative Medicine, and the Annals of Internal Medicine.
